Descended from a long line of southern bakers, Homestead, Florida native Neikya Davis has always loved being in the kitchen. She began baking with her mother at a very young age. Her love of watching people nod their heads, close their eyes and express their muffled approval after biting into one of her sweet treats eventually lead her to launch Decadent Confections.
Neikya began her career in the travel/hospitality field in 2000. She would often bake cookies and cakes for her co-workers as birthday, shower and Christmas presents. Red velvet brownies and Mexican vanilla layer cake with vanilla mousse filling were always well received.
In 2005, Neikya baked a 3-tier butter cake with chocolate mousse filling in lieu of a traditional wedding registry gift for her sister’s May wedding. The overwhelmingly positive response to the look and taste of that cake sparked her interest in pursuing a career in baking and cake design.
She moved to Atlanta in 2006 and enrolled in the Patisserie and Baking program at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts Atlanta there. In August 2007, Neikya graduated, Summa Cum Laude.
Neikya personally bakes and decorates each of her specialty cakes. An unrepentant perfectionist, her hands-on approach ensures a fresh, quality dessert.
